Miss America 2015: beauty queen is the daughter of immigrants from Russia!
23-year-old Kira Kazantsev, the daughter of immigrants from Russia, won the title of Miss America 2015 beauty pageant, which was held on September 14th in Atlantic City (New Jersey). The beautiful girl represented the State of New York. To tell the truth, representatives from New York won the title of Miss America for third year in a row.
You know, Kira is a singer and at the contest she performed hit Happy by Pharrell Williams.
53 girls took part in the contest, but the girl of Russian origin was chosen as the most beautiful one.
The winner was crowned by Miss America 2014, Nina Davuluri. The beautiful girl received not only the title and crown but also 50 thousand dollars to continue her education. Kira studied at the Hofstra University and dreams of becoming a lawyer and has already been accepted to the Fordham University’s Law School.
Kira was born on July 20, 1991 in San Francisco (according to other sources in Walnut Creek), California. According to journalists, her parents (Muscovites) arrived in the United States during perestroika and the collapse of the Union in 1990. The girl’s father is a surgeon, and her mother has become a real estate agent. Kira has younger brother Boris, who is 14 years old.
At the age of 11 the girl began participating in various children’s beauty pageants, and when she turned 21, she decided to try to compete with adults. When she was 13 years old, Kira became Miss California studying at Walnut Creek Intermediate. At the age of 16, she was a Miss California and graduated from the Las Lomas High School in Walnut Creek. Then she moved to New York.
In 2013, Kira participated in Miss New York pageant and was among the Top 10 beautiful girls. And in the same year she won the title of Miss Cosmopolitan 2013.
On May 24, 2014 Kazantsev won the title of Miss New York and was crowned by Miss New York 2013 Amanda Mason.
Kira speaks English, Russian and Spanish. The girl likes spending time in the Russian-speaking community.
Kazantsev tries to help women who are victims of domestic violence. Her platform is titled “Love Shouldn’t Hurt: Protecting Women Against Domestic Violence.” You know, Kira is an Honorary Council member and Emerging Philanthropist for the Women’s Prison Association and works with Safe Horizon, the leading Domestic Violence Organization in the Country.
