Alina Kabaeva is an outstanding Russian athlete, Honored Master of Sports, retired rhythmic gymnast, and politician. Since 2007, she has been a State Duma deputy. Awesome girl won two Olympic medals, 18 medals at World championships and 25 medals at European championships.
Future champion was born on May 12, 1983 in Tashkent, Uzbek SSR, USSR, where she spent her childhood. Her father was a professional footballer and played for Pakhtakor team. Now he lives in Tashkent. Alina’s mother, Lyubov, played for the national basketball team in her youth. Now she lives in Moscow with her younger daughter Lisana. Since childhood, Alina was a Muslim, but before the Olympic Games in Greece in 2004 she decided to become Orthodox and was baptized.

In 1995 Kabaeva and her family moved to Moscow, where Irina Viner became her coach. A year later, in 1996, Alina joined the Russian national team in rhythmic gymnastics, and in 1998 she became European champion. Then she won the World Championship and managed to win gold at 2000 Olympic Games.
At the Olympic Games in Sydney, she got bronze medal because her hoop fell down while performing. Talented girl began to train hard and as a result Alina was the winner at 18 World Championships and at 25 European Championships.
Great gymnast graduated from the Moscow State University and the St. Petersburg State University.
By the way, Alina was a presenter of the program Empire of Sports on 7 TV channel and Steps to Success on REN TV. In addition, she starred in the Japanese film Red Shadow.
Outstanding gymnast decided to finish her sports career in 2007 to become a deputy of the State Duma of Russia.
Kabaeva’s personal life is a mystery. The only thing that is known about her personal life – she had a love affair with David Museliani, but the couple parted. Before David Kabaeva had a love affair with a Russian football player Maxim Buznikin, they even lived together.
In mid-April 2008 the Russian newspaper Moskovsky Korrespondent stated that she was going to marry the Russian President Vladimir Putin in mid-June. But later Putin denied this information, saying, “There is not a single word of truth” in it. People say there is no smoke without fire. There are rumors that Vladimir Putin is the father of Kabaeva’s son. But Alina writes on her official site that she hasn’t got any children.
In January, 2011 Alina Kabaeva appeared on the cover of Vogue Russia.
