Yulia Lipnitskaya – youngest Olympic Champion
Yulia Lipnitskaya is a Russian figure skater, 2014 Olympic champion, 2014 European champion, 2012 Junior World champion, 2012 Russian Junior Champion, Master of Sports of Russia.

Pretty girl was born on June 5, 1998 in Yekaterinburg, Russia. Her mother brought up her daughter alone, as her father left the family before the baby was born. Yulia began skating at the age of 4 in Yekaterinburg. She was trained by Elena Levkovets and Marina Voitsekhovskaya. In March 2009, due to the lack of opportunities for further growth in Yekaterinburg, the girl moved to Moscow and joined Eter Tutberidze’s group.
She made her debut at the Junior Grand Prix in Poland, became the winner in Italy and was the first in the Grand Prix Final, held in Quebec, Canada.
The next major championship was in 2012 in Russia, where Lipnitskaya won silver.
In early February 2012 Yulia won the Russian Junior Championship. And in March, 2012 at the World Junior Championships young figure skater took the first place.
What is more, at all international competitions of the season 2011-2012 Yulia was the first.
Pre-Olympic season 2012-2013, Lipnitskaya started with a victory in the tournament held in Finland.
Unfortunately, she didn’t perform in the Grand Prix Final and 2013 Russian championship in Sochi due to an injury.
At the Junior World Championship in Milan, she won the silver medal.
Olympic season 2013-2014 Yulia started with a victory at the tournament in Finland and in October she won the Canadian Grand Prix in St. Johns. Then, in December, Yulia took the second place in the Grand Prix finals.
Talented girl became the winner and the youngest participant at her first European Championship in 2014.
Actually, Lipnitskaya aged 15 years 249 days became the youngest Olympic champion in the history of figure skating. She is a prodigy girl!
Music for her performance Yulia chose herself. It was a soundtrack from the Oscar-winning film Schindler’s List. “She has watched this movie for many times and she said she wanted to be that girl in a burgundy coat,” – said her coach Eteri Tutberidze.
On February 20, 2014, the sportsgirl performed ideal jumps and unique rotations, but a few moments before the final, the figure skater fell down. As a result, the 15-year-old athlete showed the fifth result. Adelina Sotnikova won the Olympics and presented Russia with the first gold medal in the modern history of women’s single skating.

In November 2015, Alexey Urmanov became Yulia’s coach.
In early 2016, Lipnitskaya performed at the Russian Championship, where she took the third place. And in February 2016, Yulia received silver at the Cup of Russia in Saransk. At the Cup of Tyrol Lipnitskaya won the gold medal.
On August 28, 2017 the mother of the girl reported that Yulia finished her sports career.
Famous figure skater Tatyana Navka commented on the latest news about Lipnitskaya’s decision, saying that there must be good reasons for this. Coach Alexei Mishin and figure skater Evgeni Plushenko expressed their confidence that the sportswoman would return to the big sport.
