The best Snegurochka – Anastasia Komorina
The festival-competition Snegurochka 2012 was held in Kostroma.
Anastasia Komorina was the girl, who became the owner of the prestigious title and was presented with a trip to seven European countries.
Father Frost’s task was very difficult, because he had to choose worthy Snegurochka from 33 beautiful and talented contestants. And Anastasia became the best!

Russian Santa Claus is called Ded Moroz (Father Frost). But unlike Santa Claus, he is always with a beautiful girl named Snegurochka (or Snow maiden). She is supposed to be his granddaughter.
In Russian folklore Snegurochka is surprisingly good character. The fairy tale about Snegurochka is a unique phenomenon in the whole world. Unlike other fairy tales, there is no villain in it.
The image of Snegurochka is the symbol of frozen water. This young and cheerful pagan goddess is dressed only in white clothes (sometimes blue).
In 1873, Alexander Ostrovsky wrote the play Snow Maiden. And Rimsky-Korsakov compose an opera, which was a huge success.
In early 1937, for the first time Ded Moroz and Snegurochka performed together in the Moscow House of Unions (the most important New Year tree of the Soviet Union).
Snegurochka is considered to be the property of Russian culture.
