Painting on glass by Elsa Kolesnikova
Elsa Kolesnikova is a talented Russian artist, who lives in Nizhnevartovsk, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug.
Looking at her pictures you understand they are really nice. Fall, winter, beautiful birches, flowers, peace and bliss – so what? What is so extraordinary in the ordinary landscape paintings? But if you look at them at exhibition in art gallery you will change your mind.
The author of “pretty pictures” never studied at any art schools. She is an amazingly talented self-taught artist. One day the girl took a brush and watercolor and began creating stunning paintings. The artist doesn’t use paper or canvas, but ordinary glass.
Elsa says it’s very difficult to paint on glass. Firstly, you need to draw on the back side, which means that the artist doesn’t see what he has painted. Secondly, if you make a mistake you can’t correct it. One tiny mistake and you have to throw the glass away, then take a new one and start to paint from the very beginning.
The finished work is covered with enamel. When the paint is dry the most interesting feature of the paintings on glass appears. These pictures change their hue depending on the lighting, time of the day and even the weather outside. And when the sun is shining, it seems that every “glass” is full of sunlight and emits light and heat…
