Nikolai Baskov – Golden Voice of Russia

Nikolai Baskov is a Russian pop and opera singer (tenor), and TV host. You know, he is People’s Artist of Russia (2009), People’s Artist of Moldova (2011).
Kolya was born on October 15, 1976 in Balashikha, Moscow region. When he was two years old, his father Viktor Baskov graduated from the Frunze Military Academy and the family moved to Germany. Victor served for five years in Dresden. His mother Elena Baskova was a mathematics teacher, but in Germany, she worked as a television announcer.
At the age of five the future singer began to study music at home with his mother.
From 1986 to 1992 he performed at The Young Actors Moscow Musical Theater and went on tour in the U.S., Israel, Switzerland, and France.
In 1996, Nikolai entered the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music.
By the way, Baskov is a winner of the Spanish Competition Grand Voice and a three-time winner of the Ovation award.

In 1997, he became the winner of the All-Russia competition of Russian romance Romansiada.
A year later, Nikolai was the winner of the All-Russian competition for young opera singers and got an offer to perform Lensky in Tchaikovsky’s opera Eugene Onegin at the Bolshoi Theatre.

In 2001, Baskov became a soloist of the Bolshoi Theater, but in 2003 he left it.

In 2000, Baskov met the legend of opera and the great soprano of the 20th century, Montserrat Caballe. In Madrid he sang along with her daughter Montserrat Marti.
Baskov released 12 CDs and appeared on the screen as an actor. He starred in Cinderella, The Snow Queen, Wedding Ring, The Golden Key, Little Red Riding Hood and some others.
In addition to his musical career, the artist is also a TV presenter. In 2003, Nikolai was a presenter of the reality show Dom 1, and a little later he was replaced by Svetlana Khorkina. Then he was a presenter of the popular program Saturday Evening.

Personal life
In 2001, Nikolai married Svetlana Spiegel, the daughter of his producer, well-known businessman and public figure Boris Spiegel. On April 24, 2006 their son Bronislav Baskov was born. In May 2008 they divorced. At the moment Svetlana is the only one who can boast that she was Baskov’s wife.

Baskov sang many songs along with Ukrainian singer Taisia Povaliy. And their creative union began even before his divorce. About their love affair everyone knew.

Oxana Fedorova and Nikolai were one of the brightest couples of Russian show business. Their relationship began in 2008, when Miss Universe 2002 was married to German businessman Philip Toft. In July 2009 at a music festival in Jurmala Baskov and Oxana announced their engagement, but in 2011 the couple broke up.

Anastasia Volochkova and Baskov had a love affair in 2011.
He could marry opera diva Anna Netrebko, but she was officially engaged to Erwin Schrott from Uruguay.
