Maria Savinova, Russian athlete

Maria Savinova is a Russian athlete, who specializes in the 800 meters. By the way, she is Honored Master of Sports of Russia and the best athlete in Europe in 2011. At the 2011 World Championships in Daegu, South Korea, she won gold. And at the 2012 Olympic Games in London she also won a gold medal. On August 13, 2012 Maria was awarded the Order of Friendship for outstanding contribution to the development of physical culture and sports, high achievements in sports at the Games of the XXX Olympiad 2012 in London (UK).
Pretty girl was born on August 13, 1985 in Chelyabinsk. As a child, the girl spent a long time looking for her place in the sport. She was engaged in dancing and badminton, achieving the title of candidate for master of sports. In her youth she was noted by coach Tatyana Maslova, who persuaded the girl to try her hand in running.
You know, in 2009, Savinova became the European indoor champion in the 800 m and the World indoor champion one year later.

Savinova graduated from the South Ural State University and now studies at the Chelyabinsk State University of Agriculture and Engineering.
Unfortunately, she was disqualified for an anti-doping rule violation and stayed without the titles of the 2012 Olympic champion, the 2011 World champion and the 2010 European champion.
Her coach Vladimir Kazarin also got in the list of coaches, who are recommended to be disqualified for life. Maria’s husband, Alexei Farnosov, was included in the list of athletes for whom additional investigation is required.
On February 10, 2017, by the decision of the Sports Arbitration Court Savinova was found guilty of violating the anti-doping rules from July 26, 2010 to August 19, 2013. So, all her results during that period were canceled. In addition, they disqualified the athlete for 4 years, starting from August 24, 2015.

Personal life
On September 10, 2010, Maria married middle-distance runner Alexey Farnosov. In 2014, she took her husband’s name. Their son was born in May 2015.
