Her father, Alexander Gorban, was an actor and then became a director of the Drama Theatre. And her mother was an actress too. When the girl was six years old her family moved to Moscow.
In 2007 Mariya graduated from the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts (GITIS). By the way, her graduation performances were Nameless Star by Mikhail Sebastyan, Three Sisters by A.P. Chekhov and Mandate by Nikolai Erdman.
