Klishina Darya, long jumper
Klishina Darya is a Russian long jumper, one of the most promising athletes of the country and sex symbol of Russian sport. She has a truly impressive collection of awards to her credit. Darya is the two-time European champion (2011, 2013), European Youth Champion (2011), European Junior Champion (2009), World Champion (2007), European junior record holder (7.05 m), as well as “Miss Sport – 2010”.
Dasha was born on January 15, 1991 in Tver. As a child she was engaged in dancing, and volleyball. Then she decided to choose athletics as individual sports were closer to her.
13-year-old girl was noted by a coach from Moscow. Despite the fact she was the smallest in the group the coach could see something in Darya and convinced parents to let her go to Moscow. So Klishina moved to Moscow and entered the Olympic Reserve School.
This young athlete had proved her mettle by winning the gold at the 2007 World Youth Championship as well as the 2009 European Athletics Junior Championships. She has won the long jump title at the 2011 European Athletics Indoor Championships.
Unfortunately, she missed Olympics in London.
At the 2013 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Gothenburg (Sweden) Klishina won gold.
At the European Team Championship held in the UK, Darya won silver.
At the XXVII World Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan the athlete won a gold medal.
Fragile Dasha (57 kg) can lift 75 kg barbell.
Her future profession is a manager. She’s never seen herself as a coach.
Darya was often invited to take part in TV shows like “Big Race” and “Cruel games”. But she always refused as the risk of injury was very high and it took a lot of time.
The Russian long-jump sensation is one of the first Russian athletes who has been signed by the global fashion, sports and media company, IMG Worldwide. The most famous IMG’s Russian clients are Alexander Ovechkin and Maria Sharapova.
Her hobby is modeling. She has signed contracts with Nike, Seiko, Red Bull.
