Bright artist Leonid Afremov
Leonid Afremov is an impressionist painter. He is one of the most recognizable contemporary artists. You know, he developed his own unique style, which cannot be confused with that of any other artist. His style is unique and simple. Leonid uses knife instead of a brush. The artist likes to travel. He paints landscapes, city scenes, seascapes, flowers and portraits. Afremov’s paintings are full of optimism, passion and incredible energy.
Leonid was born on July 12, 1955 in Vitebsk (Belarus, USSR). The artist was born in the same town as Marc Chagall, who later had a significant influence on his work. Leonid was a good student, was fond of history and fine art, collected stamps and listened to the Beatles. His father was a shoe designer and manufacturer and his mother worked at a metallurgical plant.
In 1973, Leonid entered the Vitebsk Pedagogical Institute, where he studied at the Department of Fine Arts and graphics. He was inspired by Chagall and Modigliani’s works.
In 1975, Afremov met his future wife, Inessa Kagan, and one year later they got married. It was love at first sight. They are still together after many, many years. They have two sons: Dmitry (born in 1977) and Boris (born in 1984).
In 1990, the Afremovs moved to Israel and in 2002 to Florida, USA. Since 2010, Leonid lives and works in the town of Playa del Carmen, in the eastern part of Mexico, which has already had an impact on his work. Now dynamic Latin American motifs can be seen in his pictures.
His paintings received worldwide recognition.Life experience, emotions, personal experiences, according to Leonid, are an important part of his inspiration.
